Both/And Speaker Series
Both/And: A Series Rethinking Educational Polarities in Modern Schools
For generations, schools have navigated enduring tensions: Should learning be individualized or shared? Should we prioritize fluency or conceptual understanding? Should we protect students from distraction—or teach them to manage it? These questions are not new, but advances in artificial intelligence, new research on learning, and rapidly changing cultural expectations have made them more urgent than ever.
Both/And: Rethinking Educational Polarities in Modern Schools invites educators to step away from false choices and explore the productive tension between competing educational priorities. Rather than debating right and wrong, each session brings together thoughtful practitioners who approach the same challenge from different perspectives, sharing the research, experiences, and reasoning that shape their work. Participants will be invited to examine their own assumptions, consider alternative viewpoints, and reflect on how these tensions play out in their own classrooms and schools. The goal is not to persuade participants toward a single answer, but to deepen professional thinking so that each educator can make more intentional decisions in their own context.
