KEYNOTE: Unlocking Teacher Growth
What makes for effective professional learning—and how can we give it the best chance of success? In this keynote, we’ll take a look at the best uses of teachers’ (limited) time for getting better. We’ll look at the Model for Great Teaching as one framework of evidence-informed best practice, as well as begin to explore the four dimensions. Ultimately, this keynote will offer a view of professional learning for classroom teachers that moves away from “one and done” sessions to a program of ongoing learning and improvement.
CAPSTONE: Questioning as a Tool for Assessment and Hard Thinking
Regardless of the subject or level, teachers rely on questioning for a range of purposes over the course of a lesson. Questioning is not only a way to activate hard thinking but also a means to assess student learning. Naturally, we want our questioning to be strategic and effective. In this workshop, we’ll explore how we can use the features of questioning and assessment in ways that are purposeful and responsive to the needs of learners.
